The evolution to Cook Murphy Architects reflects the strength of its leadership—founding principal Charles S. Cook, with more than 35 years of licensed expertise, and partner Patrick Murphy, whose 20+ years of experience include the delivery of many landmark projects. Together, they bring over half a century of mastery to every endeavor.

CHARLES S. COOK

Principal
As the Founding Principal of Cook Murphy Architects, formerly Cook Architectural Design Studio, Chuck believes that great architecture starts with deep respect and focused attention. For over 35 years, he has guided a talented team of professionals, turning big concepts into meticulously crafted realities. Chuck’s design philosophy balances artistic creativity with functional value, ensuring every project—from large commercial campuses to intimate lakeside retreats—feels deeply personal and intentionally designed.

PATRICK MURPHY
AIA, LEED BD+C
Partner
Patrick has over 20 years of professional experience and has been a licensed architect since 2014. His background in mathematics and art history has shaped an interdisciplinary approach to design. Through international studio research in Taiwan, Venice, and Iceland, he developed an appreciation for vernacular architecture and the influence of regional culture on design. These experiences continue to inform his approach to sustainability, with a focus on passive strategies and environmental stewardship. Patrick is also a LEED Accredited Professional with a specialty in Building Design and Construction.

AMANDA LAMIE
LEED BD+C
Assistant Project Manager
Amanda is a licensed architect and registered interior designer with over 10 years of professional experience. Her journey with Cook Murphy Architects began as an intern in 2016 while completing her Master of Architecture and Minor in Interior Design at Ball State University. After graduating, she joined the firm full-time in Chicago. Following her move to Indiana, she transitioned to a full-time remote role with the firm while continuing to collaborate closely with the team and travel to the Chicago office regularly.

JOEL PADILLA
Senior Project Coordinator
Joel brings a strong combination of architectural knowledge, technical expertise, and a collaborative approach to the Cook Murphy Architects team. Originally from Wisconsin, Joel earned his degree in Architecture from the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee and brings a thoughtful, detail-oriented approach to each project he works on.

CAROL FINE
Office Manager
Carol has worked with Chuck for more than 20 years and is responsible for the day-to-day activities that keep our office running smoothly. In addition to the technical responsibilities of handling HR tasks, accounts payable/receivable, and planning company outings, she also enjoys making sure everyone is taken care of. Carol is often the first point of contact and embraces that critical role as our client liaison by helping to make sure all needs are responded to and resolved. Building relationships and being responsive are at the core of her character.
